Colonoscopy Prep: Alternative to Gatorade?

Hello, friends! Lucky me--I get to have a colonoscopy this week.

I told the intake person that I have had gastric bypass and if this affected my prep.  She said the only difference to the instructions is that I need to allow enough time to down all the drink.

However, as I look at the instructions, among other things, I am to down 32 oz of Gatorade mixed with Miralax the night before (over 2 hours), and then another 32 oz of Gatorade/Miralax the morning of the procedure (over 2 hours).

I am concerned about the sugar content of the Gatorade, especially in such a large amount all at once.  I have had carbohydrates since my surgery (e.g., 1-2 T berries, or 1-3 bites of my husband's dessert, etc.).  Though not perfect, this is small amounts, always balanced with substantial protein, and never liquid sugary drinks.

I am REALLY concerned that I might have a really bad sugar crash/dump from this.  Advice?

Can you call your surgeon's office or your NUT for their opinion?

Powerade has a really good sugar free version.

Thanks!  I had forgotten about the sugar free options altogether.

Oh, that is good advice, too.

Gatorade has a low sugar version called G2. On the same shelf---looks almost identical, but you need to look for the "2" next to the G.

This is what I ended up using.  Not too bad.  But also disgusting.  Thanks for the good advice.
